And I must admit I'm not sure I can tell the difference between a linocut and a woodcut, though mine looks a lot like a woodcut to me.k.r.h.voigthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10827232132068072572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195425069670824214.post-66555301088059483592010-12-10T20:59:24.748+00:002010-12-10T20:59:24.748+00:00So far as I know, all NBR's work was linocut. ...So far as I know, all NBR's work was linocut. Plenty of people get the two media mixed up but being linocut is a sign. (Some German-speaking artists had given up colour woodcut before 1918). So style also counts. The description doesn't mean anything to me and as you know NBR almost always did birds and animals in groups.

The Amsterdam auction house catalogue of colour prints used to be very useful indeed for id. Unfortunately, it's no longer online but I think Gerrie has stashed the lot.

And it's OK, fortunately a Bresslern Roth I do own and it will be posted before not too long.

Readers like mystery prints so you could always post it here. If so, send to: cgc@waitrose.com. But I will think on.Haji babahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10619515066447546979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195425069670824214.post-41802968132633455482010-12-10T19:37:51.247+00:002010-12-10T19:37:51.247+00:00Charles, there's no need to rush, I am gratefu...Charles, there's no need to rush, I am grateful to be able to participate in your journey through the world of prints (enjoying myself and learning a lot at the same time), and neorealismo sounds molto promising to me!
As you mentioned Bresslern-Roth again: I happen to own a colour woodcut (don't get upset) which is unsigned, so I don't know the artist, but judging from the quality, the line and the colours, I assume it might be one by Bresslern-Roth. However, I haven't been able to find it anywhere, and I have spent some time researching. It shows a thrush in a bush with berries in yellow-red autumn colours. Have you come across it? And if not, would you have an idea where to look?

thanks

Klausk.r.h.voigthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10827232132068072572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195425069670824214.post-59473231529724512182010-12-10T17:48:12.858+00:002010-12-10T17:48:12.858+00:00I'm glad you brought up the subject of Bressle...I'm glad you brought up the subject of Bresslern Roth. Gerrie has already mentionned her privately. This means I need a few more days to try and get it right. So, you will have an interlude of Italian neo-realism before we go colour woodcut on Tuesday. I'm afraid the by now necessary Bresslern Roth follow-up will have to wait untill the New Year. The long holidays intervene!Haji babahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10619515066447546979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195425069670824214.post-79972683377935180962010-12-10T14:12:31.944+00:002010-12-10T14:12:31.944+00:00Charles,

I must say I don't like all of his animal prints, maybe he is too modern for my taste. And if it has to be more avantgarde, I prefer Bresslern-Roth's works. But I am curious to see your next post, maybe you can make me change my mind. By the way: my collection of prints is very modest, to be painfully honest.

have a good weekend!

Klausk.r.h.voigthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10827232132068072572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2195425069670824214.post-30888820464229151762010-12-09T17:21:36.769+00:002010-12-09T17:21:36.769+00:00It's rewarding for me to know people get somet...It's rewarding for me to know people get something out of it, so thanks for reading thus far.
